Chapter Philanthropy

Welcome to Philanthropy and Service with Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta!

Collegiate members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta at Babson College know how difficult it can be to fit service into a crazy schedule!

That being said, we value the opportunity to give back with Sigma Kappa, as our philanthropic efforts enable us to live out all of our values, including personal growth, friendship, service, and loyalty.

We measure our success in two ways:

  • Standards of Excellence: Standards which are outlined by Sigma Kappa National Headquarters
  • Pillars of Excellence: Standards which are outlined by Babson College

The Standards of Excellence that Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta intends to meet through Philanthropy and Service are as follows:

Each year a minimum of 80% of members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should participate in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, members should participate in a minimum of five Sigma Kappa philanthropy and service events, a minimum of five non-Sigma Kappa philanthropy and service events, an average of 25 community service hours, should donate a minimum of $10,000 to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, a minimum of 35% of members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should be a member of the 1874 Giving Circle, and our individual chapter members should receive a total of at least five Greek, campus, national, or regional honors or awards.

Here are some of our sisters at the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer's!

The Pillars of Excellence that Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta intends to meet through Philanthropy and Service are as follows:

  • Each member of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should complete ten hours of community service per semester (with at least four hours off campus).
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should host at least one philanthropic event each academic year that supports their national philanthropic mission. Participants in the philanthropy should understand what they’re supporting.
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should sponsor or co-sponsor at least one service project each academic year.
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should provide ongoing support to an organization/cause through regularly scheduled service hours.

Here are some of the ways we are going to make this happen!

American Red Cross Blood Drive: The CEO of the American Red Cross is a Babson alumnus, so this is an amazing opportunity to support Babson College and give back!

Ultraviolet Event: Each semester, we host an Ultraviolet event to give back! These events are open to the entire Babson community. In the Spring, we hosted a Paint Night event. This fall, we hosted a Pumpkin Painting Event. All of the money collected is donated to the Ultraviolet Foundation.

Alzheimer's Walk: Sigma Kappa attends the Boston Alzheimer's Walk each fall. There, we donate our funds and walk the entire course. This event is a chapter favorite, and we love being able to participate alongside our Boston Sigma sisters!

Week of Giving: This is a week-long event, where each night we give back to the Babson community. Each day has a theme that relates to one of our philanthropies, and the activities reflect those organizations. For example, this year we decorated flower pots to give to each sorority and fraternity on campus. Another day, we baked cookies and made cards to give to our facilities and dining workers and Public Safety police force to thank them for their hard work.

Off-Campus Volunteer Opportunities: Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta members will be invited to complete community service hours off campus together with local organizations!

Remember, if you ever forget our philanthropies, just think about SIGMA!
