Chapter Philanthropy

Welcome to Philanthropy and Service with Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta!

Collegiate members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta at Babson College know how difficult it can be to fit service into a crazy schedule!

That being said, we value the opportunity to give back with Sigma Kappa, as our philanthropic efforts enable us to live out all of our values, including personal growth, friendship, service, and loyalty.

We measure our success in two ways:

  • Standards of Excellence: Standards which are outlined by Sigma Kappa National Headquarters
  • Pillars of Excellence: Standards which are outlined by Babson College

The Standards of Excellence that Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta intends to meet through Philanthropy and Service are as follows:

Each year a minimum of 80% of members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should participate in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, members should participate in a minimum of five Sigma Kappa philanthropy and service events, a minimum of five non-Sigma Kappa philanthropy and service events, an average of 25 community service hours, should donate a minimum of $10,000 to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, a minimum of 35% of members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should be a member of the 1874 Giving Circle, and our individual chapter members should receive a total of at least five Greek, campus, national, or regional honors or awards.

The Pillars of Excellence that Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta intends to meet through Philanthropy and Service are as follows:

  • Each member of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should complete eight hours of community service per semester (with at least four hours off campus).
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should host at least one philanthropic event each academic year that supports their national philanthropic mission. Participants in the philanthropy should understand what they’re supporting.
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should sponsor or co-sponsor at least one service project each academic year.
  • Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta should provide ongoing support to an organization/cause through regularly scheduled service hours.

Here are some of the ways we are going to make this happen!

Foundation Fridays: This weekly event is an opportunity for members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta to write cards to retirement communities, children’s hospitals, facilities, and more!

Spring Kleaning with Sigma Kappa:  This event is a way for Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta to give back to the Maine Sea Coast Mission! Effectively, we will execute a clothing drive open to the entire Babson community!

American Red Cross Blood Drive: The CEO of the American Red Cross is a Babson alumnus, so this is an amazing opportunity to support Babson College and give back!

Alzheimer’s Association Booth at the Boston Marathon: One of our very own Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta members is running in the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2015. We plan to support her and the Alzheimer’s Association by holding a mini-fundraiser along the Boston Marathon route.

Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Kappa: Kappa Kupcakes: A bake sale fundraiser and educational event in collaboration with Kappa Kappa Gamma! We will split the proceeds between our respective philanthropies!

Sigma Kappa Karnival:  A twenty-four hour UltraViolet fundraising event in support of the Sigma Kappa Foundation! In addition to selling food, we will be collaborating with other organizations to incorporate games, entertainment, and other attractions!

Sigma Service Directory: A comprehensive list of current community service efforts that members of Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta are currently involved with!

#SigmaServiceStories: The hashtag that Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta will use to share our service goals and achievements!

Off-Campus Volunteer Opportunities: Sigma Kappa Zeta Zeta members will be invited to complete community service hours off campus together with local organizations!
